Being able to take a good photos was important. There had to be a ‘clutter free’ background and the ipad had to be still, otherwise the photos would be blurry.
After two practises, it was time to write our story boards about the narrative we had chosen. There was artworks depicting the story of Ranganui and Papatuanuku already made in the classroom to look at and use as motivation. These were photocopied so the students could cut up the characters and use them to take their photos to make their stop motion video. Three dimensional playgrounds were made and some groups chose to use these as the setting for their videos. Now that we had all our materials ready, it was time to work as a group, and make the video.
By using the app, students were able to work with others, have patience and learn by doing. We made a first step of learning a new skill that we can continue to use in the future.
